Prayer for May 4th, 2026
Good morning, God —thank you!
In the New Testament, it does not command Christians to tithe ten percent of their income, as that was part of the Old Testament Mosaic Law. Instead, it teaches principles of generous, proportionate, and voluntary giving from the heart, rather than fulfilling a legal obligation. Rooted in biblical tradition, it is seen as an act of obedience, worship, and stewardship, but born-again believers love to give and do it with a glad heart. In doing so, we often give more than the old command required, living and loving in charity through Jesus, hallelujah! Amen.
35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
