Prayer for July 4th, 2025

Good morning, Sovereign Lord —thank you!

I/we celebrate this day. A day that signifies the birth of the United States as a free and sovereign nation —a U.S. federal holiday “commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, which declared the 13 American colonies’ separation from British rule.” Thank you for the nation’s freedom, and those who sacrificed for it. For your love, grace, and mercy. I pray for continued blessings and guidance for the country. You have made us a great nation. Thank you for the freedom to worship, work, and live without fear. Please give our leaders wisdom, unity, forgiveness, peace, and the pursuit of justice and equality for all. I lift our nation to you. I proclaim your glory in our beautiful land. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

1 Peter 2:16

16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

2 Corinthians 3:17

17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Titus 3:1-5

Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,

To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Psalm 33:12

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
