Prayer for June 21st, 2025

Good morning, God —thank you!

Compassion is a key expression of genuine righteousness. A feeling and active demonstration of love and mercy that reflects Christ’ righteous blood and character. Evidence of this is found throughout your Word, particularly in the teachings and actions of Jesus, who consistently showed mercy and healing to those in need. Jesus criticized the Pharisees for their hypocrisy because of their meticulous observance of minor laws while neglecting the weightier matters of justice, mercy, and faithfulness, essentially telling them they were “straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel,” meaning they sweated the small stuff while ignoring significant moral failings. Holy Spirit, please help me find justice, mercy, and faithfulness in all I do —through Jesus. Amen.

Psalm 89:14

14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.

Matthew 23:24

24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

1 Peter 3:8-9

Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
