Prayer for March 30th, 2024

Good Saturday morning,  God —thank you!!

The teacher who applied his mind to studying and exploring all that was under the heavens thought, what a heavy burden you had laid on humankind. He had seen everything done under the sun and found it toilsome and meaningless, like chasing after the wind. I trust you and your Word for wisdom and desire to do everything for your glory. This life affects the next. You had it all planned out before it began. Enjoying life based on faith and thanksgiving towards you brings great rewards. “He that keepeth understanding shall find good.” In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Ecclesiastes 1-12

The Vanity of Life

1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.

2 “Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher;

“Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.”

3 What profit has a man from all his labor

In which he toils under the sun?

4 One generation passes away, and another generation comes;

But the earth abides forever.

The sun also rises, and the sun goes down,

And hastens to the place where it arose.

The wind goes toward the south,
And turns around to the north;
The wind whirls about continually,
And comes again on its circuit.

7 All the rivers run into the sea,
Yet the sea is not full;
To the place from which the rivers come,
There they return again.

All things are full of labor;

Man cannot express it.
The eye is not satisfied with seeing,
Nor the ear filled with hearing.

That which has been is what will be,
That which is done is what will be done,
And there is nothing new under the sun.

10 Is there anything of which it may be said,
“See, this is new”?
It has already been in ancient times before us.

11 There is no remembrance of former things,

James 1:5

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come
By those who will come after.

Proverbs 19:8

He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

1 Corinthians 10:31

31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Ecclesiastes 2:24

24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.

Proverbs 17:22

22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
