Prayer for September 12th’ 2023

Good morning, God —thank you!!

I desire to get caught in the spotlight, shining your light, not mine, pushing my way to center stage with selfish motives, having one-up on everybody. That is considered arrogant. Also, people sometimes want to be heard, so please let me be more attentive to others. Not constantly interrupting, hearing nothing they say, only to make it about “me and my.” That is not what Jesus would do. Holy Spirit, I humble myself before you. Lift me up. Please help me be my best, emitting rays of you, not me, never counting myself higher than anyone. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Romans 12:3

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

James 1:19

19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

Proverbs 18:2

A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.

Proverbs 18:13

13 He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

Romans 2:8

But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

James 4:6-10

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Proverbs 25:6-7

Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:

2 Timothy 3:2

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Proverbs 16:16-19

16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
